Meet the Vibrant Clinical Support Team
Cat Simmons – Lead Clinical Dietitian
Cat Simmons is the Lead Clinical Dietitian at Vibrant America Clinical Labs. Her educational background has a dual appointment in exercise physiology and nutrition biochemistry. As a registered dietitian, nutritionist Cat also holds advanced certifications as a board-certified specialist in sport dietetics (CSSD) and as a certified diabetes educator (CDE). Professional and research interests include insulin signaling and carbohydrate metabolism, fat adaptation for sport performance, gluten sensitivity, and celiac and autoimmune nutrition. She holds a functional and integrative approach to health with a firm belief that “everything begins in the gut”. Cat’s philosophy is that an active, stress-managed lifestyle combined with a whole-foods based, nutrient dense diet is the key to ultimate health and well-being in addition to peak physical and mental performance. But she gets it. Life is hectic and managing goals and obligations can be extremely challenging. Cat enjoys helping her clients find balance and work through barrier to help arm them with tools for success. Cat is a graduate from the University of Florida (Go Gators!). She moved to Colorado in 2007 to attend graduate school at Colorado State University. Today, Cat lives in Denver, CO and she enjoys all the city has to offer. She and her husband, Coit and their dog, Sochi frequent the mountains for endurance hiking, snowboarding, and camping.
Suzanne Barker – Clinical Dietitian
Suzanne Barker is passionate about bringing health and healing to every environment. She is an RDN/Clinical Educator, and Certified Gluten Practitioner with Vibrant America. She is proud to be a fightin’ Texas Aggie and holds a MS in Nutrition Science from Texas A&M University.
Her hobbies include cycling, especially mountain biking, traveling, and creating healthy recipes. In her free time, her favorite thing to do is spend time with her husband, Michael, and their 4 daughters.
Mary Beth Augustine – Clinical Dietitian
Mary Beth Augustine is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and Delegate in the Academy House of Delegates. Mary Beth’s past work experience includes 21 years practicing in integrative medicine departments in three teaching hospitals in the New York City area, and cardiovascular research at the American Health Foundation. Mary Beth’s speaking highlights include the United Nations Committee on Aging, American Institute for Cancer Research Cancer Survivor Conference, Integrative Healthcare Symposium, Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo (FNCE), and the Hawaii, Massachusetts, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New York, West Virginia and Wisconsin Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics meetings. Mary Beth has been featured on CBS, ABC, NBC, and Fox 5 News, Today in New York, CNN Market Watch, Discovery Health TV, and National Public Radio.
Tammy Russell – Clinical Dietitian
Tammy Russell, MS, RD has a long history as a dietitian, an integrative nutritionist, and a functional medicine-based counselor. She has worked in the fields of inpatient and outpatient nutrition, clinical research, health coaching, private counseling, and teaching. She has a bachelors and masters degree in Nutritional Science from Rutgers University, and completed her dietetic internship at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. Tammy trained in functional medicine with the Institute for Functional Medicine, Functional Medicine University, Apex Energetics and Metagenics. She is currently an assistant professor at the American College of Healthcare Sciences, a clinical dietitian at Vibrant America, and maintains a private practice where she caters to a cohort of GI and other chronic disease patients. In her free time, Tammy enjoys hiking, walking, reading, creating new allergen-free recipes in the kitchen, spending time with her family and studying herbalism.
Suzette Garcia, MSc, CN, is a Board Certified Holistic Nutritionist® certified through the Holistic Nutrition Credentialing Board (HNCB) and a Professional Member of the National Association of Nutrition Professionals (NANP). Garcia obtained her Master of Science in Health and Nutrition Education (MHNE) from Hawthorn University and has spent her nutrition career working in the field of functional health and nutrition with a strong focus on food sensitivities. Garcia is fluent in both English and Spanish and offers interpretation of lab test results in both languages.
In her spare time, Suzette enjoys spending most of her time on the waters of south Florida, vacationing to tropical locations, yoga, and furthering her education in the field of functional health and nutrition. She is a native Floridian who resides in Palm Beach County, FL.
