Egg zoomer

A comprehensive test to distinguish egg sensitivity to peptides in egg white and yolk.

The Vibrant™ Egg Zoomer can help differentiate egg sensitivity from other food sensitivity symptoms. Moreover, it will distinguish between immune reactivity to the egg white or egg yolk antigens.

Strict avoidance or elimination of eggs from the diet is an option for high level egg sensitivity. This step should be taken under the supervision of a qualified healthcare provider. For moderate sensitivities, a rotation diet can be considered in consultation with a healthcare provider.

The Vibrant Egg ZoomerTM is the most comprehensive panel of egg antigens from both the egg white and yolk, which simultaneously detects multiple egg peptides known to be the major causes of egg sensitivity.

Not Available in New York state
Only healthcare providers licensed in their state may order laboratory testing.

Egg White Antigens

  • Ovomucoid
  • Ovalbumin
  • Ovomucin
  • Ovotrasferrin
  • Lysozyme

Egg Yolk Antigens

  • Lipovitellin
  • YGP42

Allergy test in this Zoomer is only available through serum and not available with Dried blood spot.

Symptoms of egg sensitivity can often mimic or overlap with symptoms of other conditions, or other food sensitivities. Distinguishing between egg sensitivity and other conditions or food sensitivities can, therefore, be difficult without very specific peptide-level testing.

Symptoms and conditions associated with egg sensitivity include:

  • Excessive gas
  • Bloating
  • Stomach pain and cramps
  • Vomiting
  • Breathing difficulty
  • Headaches
  • Skin reactions
  • Joint pain
  • Heartburn
  • Joint pain
  • Irritability
  • Nervousness
  • Nausea

What is the difference between the Egg Component test and the Egg Zoomer?

The Vibrant Egg Component test is a screen for allergic reactions or allergic sensitization to egg peptides and components, which involve IgE antibodies to the measured peptides.

The Vibrant Egg Zoomer is a test for sensitivity to egg peptides, which involve IgG and IgA antibodies, and which are not allergies. We recommend running both tests in order to detect the most possible reactions to eggs in all immunoglobulin (Ig) arms of the immune system.

If I am sensitive to egg white or egg yolk in the Egg Zoomer, does that include all eggs from different species?

The Egg Zoomer specifically tests chicken eggs. The reaction to untested foods is unknown, so we would be unable to predict if other edible bird eggs are acceptable to consume or problematic as well.

Can I run the Egg Zoomer test in pediatrics?

Yes. While Vibrant has not created reference ranges specific to pediatric populations, this test can and should be run in pediatric populations that are at risk for or suspected of having sensitivity eggs.
